LABSIA at Directory of Research Groups in Brazil

Dr. Ângelo Parise Pinto

Professor Adjunto
I am interested on all aspects of Comparative Biology, Evolutionary Biology and Biodiversity Conservation, mainly on theoretical and applied issues of systematics and biogeography. My lab focuses on projects that aims understand patterns and processes which modeled the extant biodiversity. The main projects are on taxonomy, phylogenetic systematics, biogeography and conservation of South American dragonflies and damselflies.

Ph. D. Candidate
My main interest is on the systematics, taxonomy and biogeography of the Neotropical Megapodagrionidae s.l. (Zygoptera: Odonata), with emphasis in the species delimitation, integrative taxonomy, as well as the investigation of the phylogeny of the clades with unsettled relationships.

Breno Rodrigo de Araujo

Graduate Student
I recently received my master’s degree at PPGEnto. My interests are on Taxonomy, Ecology and Conservation. Currently I’m investigating how dams could change the Odonata assembly in Atlantic Forest. As a consequence of this study, I intend to produce a regional atlas of Odonata.

Juliana Ehlert

Undergraduate Student – UFPR
My research is focused on South American emeralds, the grade “Corduliidae s.l.” Since I started in the grade course of Biology at UFPR I got interested to know more about insects and more specifically, dragonflies. In the LABSIA, I started to work with taxonomy of a rare genus of “Corduliidae”, but I also enjoy to work with natural history collections and biogeography.
